Practicing the habit of giving thanks is good for us. Some say gratitude is the best attitude.
I am thankful for you! Thank you for following this blog and/or following the author page. You are appreciated.
I hope during this season you are filled with joy and gratitude.
I Am Sending You Love This Holiday!
For some, the holidays are a time of stress or sadness. Some are facing challenges and uncertainty. If that’s you, I am thinking of you. You are absolutely not alone. My hopes are your soul is saturated with hope; hope there are better days ahead than behind you!
Perspective Gained From Street Mission
One of the things I do on the side is volunteer at the free clinic and I take out teams to feed and clothe the homeless monthly. This past weekend we encountered a man eating out of the garbage. He was so hungry. He was grateful to receive several sandwiches and a bookbag full of food/supplies. I thought to myself, “How fortunate we are, those who are not eating out of the garbage and have family or friends that would take us in during crisis.”
I spent part of October in Cambodia serving in the slums. Children and adults live amongst the garbage and have much less than they need.
The man we encountered in the park lost his job, was diagnosed with terminal cancer, and was living on the streets-eating out of the garbage.
There is a quote I love, it says the following-“If we cannot be thankful for what we have, we can give thanks for what we have been spared.”
I tell you these two stories in case you are searching for something to give thanks for this season. I certainly do not wish to minimize any struggles you may be facing.
God cares about every detail of our lives, whether it’s homelessness, losing a loved one, joblessness, hurt, betrayal, tragedy, gross disappointment, or just loneliness. God cares! God sees!! God loves you!!!
Here is a prayer and encouragement I placed on Facebook today: https://www.facebook.com/165203883584057/posts/1696095183828245/.
I hope you are blessed by the 2.5 minute encouragement.
I hope you seize the moment this holiday and enjoy it! I hope you look for someone else to bless and help. Sometimes it’s in looking outside our circumstances to another that we find greater perspective.
This year has presented a few challenges personally and in my family. Continuing to look for others to serve has brought great perspective. I am not eating out of the garbage. I don’t have cancer nor have to sleep outside. I can thank God for what I have been spared and have compassion on those suffering.
What are you thankful for this season? Write it down or speak it out.
I am speaking life over you. I am declaring goodness over your life.
May this be one of the best seasons ever! :)
